Cracks in the dark where the shadows begin,
Tracing the dreams that are wearing so thin.
Every heartbeat a stone, every breath like a ghost,
Walking the path where I’m needed the most.
In the silence that screams and the debris of hope,
I’m pulling my soul to the end of the rope.
I can feel the fracture, the breakdown, the dust,
Building a ladder with pieces of trust.
The night is my master, but I am no slave,
Digging a path from the edge of my grave.
In the hopeless embrace, I am still reaching out,
Wringing my faith from the ashes of doubt.
Fighting like demons with a saint’s design,
For a glimpse of a promise, a single sign.
Struggling in the void where no angels are found,
I won't give up till I reach higher ground.
Voices are loud, singing hymns of despair,
Filling the gaps in the cold, broken air.
I've memorized failure and know how it feels,
To have the last certainty crack at my heels.
But I won't be broken and I won't be bowed,
I’ll find a way through this thunderous cloud.
The dark is a canyon, a hollow abyss,
It cannot contain me, it cannot do this.
I'll set myself on fire if it serves as my guide,
To the salvation on the other side.
In the hopeless embrace, I am still reaching out,
Wringing my faith from the ashes of doubt.
Fighting like demons with a saint’s design,
For a glimpse of a promise, a single sign.
Struggling in the void where no angels are found,
I won't give up till I reach higher ground.
Higher ground.
Searching for light.
Rising in flight.
Struggle and rise.
