Wishing Well Sky

I found a coin in the wishing well
Tossed it high and wished it fell
But it lingered there up in the air
Like it had secrets it couldn’t share

I met a bird with a broken wing
It sang a tune that made hearts sting
Carried my dreams on a silver tray
Then flew them back to yesterday

I got a pocket full of stardust tonight
Holding on tight to this fragile light
Dancing with shadows beneath the moon
Humming a melody that ends too soon

A stranger whispered in the dark
Said the road ahead would leave a mark
But I’ve got shoes made of borrowed time
I’ll walk that line till the stars align

The clock hands tremble as they spin
But time can’t cage the fire within
The world may crumble but I’ll still stand
With galaxies swirling in my hand
